Obadiah is a FEVER!!!

Yesterday, while roof work was being done on the parsonage in North Chittenden I thought it might be fun for Obadiah to be out from underfoot and over here at the lake with us! Thankfully Lucy was eager for the outing as well and so she was along for the ride. . .and what a ride it was! Obadiah was nonstop mischief with a knowledge of drawers, cupboards, and mess making far exceeding his tender age. Joel and Christine you have my respect and admiration. Looks so innocent doesn't he! The bugles had quite a work out. Lucy perhaps should take French horn lessons for she could actually get good sound from the bugle. Obadiah could not, however he had the entire mouthpiece in his mouth so would have had to blow from his tonsils to make a sound.
Enjoying an apple snack.

Lucy demonstrating for Grandma the correct mouth position for bugle blowing or kissing she said! Looks a lot like Capital H (the goldfish) in this picture.

Can You Spot the Difference?

The second picture I took this morning and it is a little dark. We had 4 dead pine trees taken down this past week. The smaller two are visible in the top picture, one leaning toward the lake and one leaning toward the house. The other two were big ones still standing straight but dead, dead, dead.

Sunday Evening Company

A fun gathering. Liz and her daughter Kaitlyn and Sue and her Aunt Margaret from Kansas. It was an impromptu get together and we all had a wonderful time. Kaitlyn is taking classes in massage therapy and I helped her perfect her technique. . .

North Chittenden Sunday

This morning Barry visited the Fair Haven Methodist Church for their 8:30 service and then travelled to Orwell for their 10:30 service. I opted to go to North Chittenden where I had not been for a long time. It was to be Lydia's last Sunday here in Vermont as she heads back to Houghton next Saturday.

Before I left for church the husband of one of my ER coworkers came by to look at the dead pine trees I would like to have taken down. In addition to taking down the trees he will also spray waterseal on all the decks. Whoooeeeee! That will be such a great job to have done.

GROW and Fellowship Continues!

Such a happy group of smiling faces. The fellowhip hall resounded with singing, drama and good munching along with various squawks and squeaks from Obadiah. I took other group pictures but they came out blurry so I will not post them. Once Carla and I were through visiting downstairs we came upstairs to find nearly the entire church family visiting on the front lawn and steps of the church. Emma and Joel were enjoying the front wall and the wonderful sunshine.
Some of the youngsters were visiting in the shade of the big maple tree.
The men were discussing the upcoming roofing party at the parsonage that begins at 7am on Friday. As you can see you don't have to live south of the Mason Dixon line to wear shorts to church!

Phoebe and Grace have their own little garden by the side of the church building. More visiting. We will miss Lydia!

I brought home an abundance of vegetables from Joel's garden. I did make bruschetta for supper tonight and it was delicious. Thanks for the idea Jamin! Thanks Joel for tomatoes, basil and garlic as well as a host of other incredible edibles! Lucy was determined. She had a couple of good solid hits while I was on the pitcher's mound. Such a cutie!
Blurry but a good swing. Excellent follow through. She is a natural. I meant to post this picture earlier. Isaiah was bringing Joel rocks.
Joel and the prophets. . .one major. . .one minor.

A Letter from Bowden!

A wonderful surprise was in our mailbox yesterday! A letter from Idyllwild, CA from Bowden! It travelled our way via the US Postal service under the protective eye of the Widjiwats stamped on the front and back. Now to make room on the frig for this art work. Thank you, Bowden!
Swiped photo from Josh's blog. View north from our beach. Thank you, Josh.

More Random Photos from Camp Washington

After Bible Class: No one was in a hurry to leave even though BJT taught until they rang the bell for lunch! Flo and Walt Skantze: They have a little cabin across the road from the Tabernacle and they have DSL with a wireless router in their little home. They allow it to be open access and so Camp Washington had internet access available to anyone with wireless capability. It was great. Thank you Walt and Flo! I'm sure your connection is more speedy now that we have all packed up and headed home.
This is the strawberry rhubarb pie fairy! Janice Heanssler has been a wonderful friend over the years along with the rest of her family. Husband, Donn, was so busy repairing toilets and water line issues that he escaped my camera.
This year this play equipment had been donated for the little people that come to Camp Washington. Previously the only thing for the kids to play on was the huge memorial rock. There were children on this equipment pretty much non stop from dawn until dark. . .except for when I took the picture.

John helped us sweep and generally clean up the cabin the morning we were heading home. We were pretty much packed before Bible Class. All week long people were doing work on their cottages. This cottage is right beside the Orne cottage that we had always been in before this year. It is amazing what a coat of paint can do!
Sad to pull out and say goodbye. We were blessed with another wonderful week at Camp Washington.

A Very Special Day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOEL TOM TATE!

We remember this day 35 years ago very, very well. Your dad was so excited after your birth that he left the hospital, rushed home to change to get to church for the Wednesday evening prayer meeting with the news of your birth tucked in his heart. Once at prayer meeting the people after ample congratulations pointed out to him that he had one sneaker and one dress shoe! You have been a joy to us your entire life. Love, Mom and Dad

Another Maine Benefit

A picture is worth a thousand words!

Surprise Visit

Vic and Kathy were in John's church in Windsor, CT. John was here in our cabin visiting Monday afternoon when there was a knock on our cabin door and there they stood. They had tracked John down while they were vacationing in Tenants Harbor. We really enjoyed meeting them.

A Yarmouth Stop

The tree size bush behind us is a hydrangea! I have never seen such a big one! Notice how beautifully color coordinated we are. . .a bird of paradise has nothing on us!!!

We stopped enroute to Maine to visit with Aunt Carolyn in Yarmouth. I have some pictures but for some reason the computer does not want me to upload them now so will post anyway and add pictures later. We are having a wonderful but wet week. We have been wearing fleeces and sweaters pretty much non stop.

Camp Washington!

We are enjoying having some time with John during the down times here at camp! This is the sitting room part of our cabin. We are in a nice airy cabin. Our cabin has a refrigerator and stove. We found the rhubarb pie fairy had been by and left the lovely strawberry rhubarb pie you see pictured below. Suffice it to say the pie does not look like this now!!!!! Delicious!
Some shots of our cabin. Dad's studies are going well and he seems to be feeling well. John's evening messages have been absolutely wonderful. I wish you all could be hearing them.

More from Camp Washington later. John, Barry and I are going to Augusta for a while this afternoon. Greetings to all.

Friday Night at the Wheel

Friday night when I got home from the office in Manchester we decided to go to the Wheel for a celebratory meal. Vacation had begun! We even had dessert!!! We shared a piece of coconut cream pie which was massive. This picture does not do it justice. . .just realize that the plate was a large one! We each had a fork and made short work of this delectable treat. One last bite. Uhmmmmm!

Camp Washington Bound!

John sent me a text message about an hour ago stating he had made it to Camp Washington. We will be following his trail once church is over in West Haven tomorrow. The washer is finishing one last load of wash so that BJT and JMT will have clean clothes for the trip.
Discovered today that Josh now has a picture phone! They sent me some pics enroute back to Camp Maranatha from the beach house.
